How to type Degrees Symbol "°" on Ubuntu

Today I wanted to locate a place on Google Maps by typing Latitude and Longitude values. It had Degrees symbol.

This is how I typed the Degrees symbol
Hold Ctrl+Shift+u then type b0 and press enter. This will get you the symbol
°

However its very difficult to hold so many combination of keys.°
Also please post the shortcut keys for fractions like half, one third and one fourth. These are commonly used.

First thing I've found I loathe about Linux! Thanks though, none of the other combos worked.

This one actually takes a bit of skill if you're marginal keyboard operator
